Darwi Odrade is a Reverend Mother of the Bene Gesserit and, by Chapterhouse: Dune, the Mother Superior of the entire order. She is a part of the Atreides bloodline, descending from the protagonists of the earlier books. She bears a striking resemblance to Lady Jessica, Paul Muadib’s mother and a main character from Dune and Dune Messiah. Odrade is the daughter of a Bene Gesserit Reverend Mother and Bashar Miles Teg, a celebrated military commander. She grew up on Gammu with a foster family before she was recruited into the Sisterhood. By the time she became a Reverend Mother, she had built a reputation within the Sisterhood for being especially skilled.

On Rakis, Odrade met and trained Sheeana in Bene Gesserit ways. Sheeana was present on Rakis when it was destroyed by the Honored Matres. During this event, Odrade shared memories with Mother Superior Taraza, which passed the rank onto her.
